I Want to Highlight the Web — And See It All on Medium

Wouldn’t that be amazing?

I just tried to highlight something in an article that wasn’t on Medium.

Again.

Medium has me spoiled. I love highlighting the tastiest tidbits in the articles I read and browsing through them later.

I highlight things I find interesting. Things that move me. Things I want to learn more about. Things I might want to write about. Things that motivate me or make me think.

And then I read something somewhere else on the web and I’m frustrated that I can’t highlight the bits that reach out and grab me.

Sure, I can bookmark the article for future reference, and I do. My bookmarks are neatly organized into categories so I can find what I’m looking for easily. But you know what? I peruse my Medium highlights a lot more often than I go looking for something in my bookmarks.

Bookmarks are useful, but what if I’m looking for that article that had that quote that I liked and I can’t remember which article it was?

And let’s face it, having the juicy bits all together in one place is just kind of wonderful.

Someone needs to make an app that does this for the whole web. If something like this already exists, please let me know!

Note: The highlights in the screenshot above came from articles by Peter Flom and Zulie Rane. Be sure to check them out and follow if you like their work!
